Info Post
Marvel producer Kevin Feige was discussing what would happen to the "Iron Man" character and franchise once the awesome Robert Downey Jr quits. He basically said that the franchise will not end there and get rebooted. It will simply just continue like the way James Bond does. One actor leaves, and another steps in to take over the role.
Now I like that idea of doing that, rather than just reboot and start all over again with the exact same back story. Just continue on in the same universe until fans get bored and demand a reboot! The same thing will probably happen to Robert Downey Jr's "Sherlock Holmes". He did comment before the release of the second film that when he leaves, other actors will just continue on with the film series. Pick up where Downey Jr left off. The same is going with Batman. Next year they're slithy rebooting it for the "Justice League" film, but still kind of keeping it in Chris Nolan's universe, but with a new actor......SIMPLES!!!

UPDATE: Robert Downey Jr was speaking to an MTV reporter and gave fans some of his thoughts on someone taking over his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the future:
"I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes. I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me? I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while. As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."
